General Educational Development
The Mission of the General Educational Development Program is to provide leadership for establishment of adult education goals, oversight for implementation of the federal Adult Education State Plan, and administration of the statewide GED testing program to ensure that adult learners are part of States upward mobile workforces.
The program is for individuals, ages 18 and older, who are not enrolled in regular high school and can demonstrate essential academic competencies and life skills. Academic skill areas include: reading, writing, mathematics, oral communication, and critical thinking. Life skills relate to occupational, self, social, aesthetic, consumer, and scientific awareness. This is not a class attendance-base program. Participants are expected to meet periodically with an assessor to develop a portfolio that proves they have acquired the skills required to be awared a State High School Diploma.
Adult Basic Education
The mission of the Adult Basic Education program is to help adult learners who want to improve their basic skills, prepare for GED tests, learn English as a Second Language, improve their job readiness skills, or develop skills to enable them to continue their education at RQECG's Middle-Skill education training and job placement program.
